Just yesterday, we brought you guys the Land Rover Defender Concept 17 Wide Body which is considered to be one of the greatest and most capable off-road vehicles. The vehicle I’m showing you guys today is the Mercedes G-Wagon which has been converted into a pickup truck. This conversion has been around on the net for a while but I recently came across it and decided to share with our readers.
Like the Land Rover Defender, the Mercedes G-Wagon has history, is tough, and the overall design has remained pretty much the same since its inception. It’s pretty cool to see one of my favorite SUV’s converted into a sweet ass truck.
The conversion was completed by German tuner, GWF, G-Wagon XXL truck measures in at 6.3 meters (248 inches) in length and 2.2 meters in height while the width is 2.25 meters. The new weight of the G500 truck is now 2,800 kilograms (6,173lbs). I wonder how fuel efficient this thing is.
And speaking of fuel economy, this 2002 Mercedes G500 features a US spec 5.0-liter V8 engine and rides on 38-inch Mickey Thompson off road tires. The interior of the vehicle is stock and features the same luxuries as the standard 2002 Mercedes G500. As for the exterior, besides the obvious change, the truck now features a matte black paint job.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any other details about the conversion process or the cost associated with such a project. What I do have are a small collection of pictures for your viewing pleasure. The vehicle is for sale on eBay and the last time it was posted, bidding went up to $62,100 with the reserve not being met. The vehicle was also for sale back in June 2012 with a price tag of €125,000 but I guess nobody purchased it then either. The vehicle is currently in the Netherlands.
