When I was a wee lad, I used to sit around daydreaming about what my perfect home would look like. Would I live up in a tree? Would I live out on the ocean, in a massive floating fortress? Perhaps somewhere high up on a hill, with an amazing view of all the land around me? I still ask myself these same questions today, many years later, and after seeing Villa Vals in Switzerland, I may have just made up my mind.
I often write about the amazing treehouses I find while scouring the internet, and there’s no doubt about it – they really are impressive feats of imagination and creativity. But what about below our feet? Now in a cafe (though that would be amazing as well), but dug into the hillside of the Swiss Alps? As you’ll see in a moment, someone thought it was a good idea, and the results speak for themselves.
Villa Vals Switzerland
Honestly, who wouldn’t want a view like this, and from such a unique looking house to boot! Even using such simple and seemingly traditional materials, every ounce of this place shines of relaxation and enjoyment of nature, or at least all the fine beer that Europe has to offer, while uh… looking at nature.
Now, the only problem is that I kind of lied to you. I know, it was awful, and I shouldn’t have done it. You see, this isn’t exactly a house per se, at least not in the sense of “this is for sale and you can own it”. You can indeed stay at Villa Vals, but it’s going to cost you a pretty penny. Booking a one week stay in the low season will set you back a whopping € 2100,00, and as for high season? Don’t even worry about it. Unless you’re an investment banker or oil tycoon, you’ll probably be waiting a good long while for that one.

Zermatt
