Ducati introduces the all-new 2013 1199 Panigale R superbike, which is a step above the 1199 Panigale S model introduced last year.
The 1199 Panigale S was powered by a 195 horsepower V-Twin engine which has been tweaked for the R version and now revs to an incredible 12,000 rpm (up 500 rpm). Although Ducati didn’t say anything about increase in horsepower, I’m thinking the bike might hit 200 HP?
The bike is fitted with a full Termignoni exhaust system and a few extra carbon fiber bits and pieces and comes with DLC-coated rocker arms. The 1199 Panigale R comes with titanium con-rods and a lighter crankshaft flywheel, saving a total weight of 2.92 pounds.
The 2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale R comes with the standard equipment found on the S model such as Ducati Quick-Shift (DQS), traction control (DTC), electronically adjustable suspension (DES), Ride-by-Wire (RbW) throttle control, and Engine Brake Control (EBC). Additionally, the “R” comes with ABS as standard equipment. The 1199 Panigale R is priced at $29,995, about $2,000 more than the top of the line Panigale S Tricolore.
