I wasn’t aware Land Rover was working on an all-new Range Rover lineup for the 2013 model year, but thanks to our Russian comrades who got a hold of some unofficial pictures of the 2013 Range Rover, we can now see the luxury SUV in all its glory. I’m sure Land Rover will be releasing a full press package soon with more pictures and full specs, and I’m also sure they’re not very happy with autowp.ru for ruining the surprise.
The first thing you’ll notice with the 2013 Range Rover is how similar it looks to the Ford Flex, but with design elements from the Evoque – especially in the front of the vehicle. I’m guessing the Rover looks like the Flex because in these pictures, the Land Rover’s suspension is in the low position, giving it the same long look of the Ford Flex.
The interior is heavily influenced by the Evoque with a clutter-free dashboard/center console that houses a large multi-media touchscreen and three big knobs. The gear shifter has been replaced by the pop-up knob found in Jaguar cars that first made its debut on the Jaguar XF sports sedan, and the analog gauges have been replaced with digital units. As you’d expect with a luxury SUV, the interior is filled with soft touch materials; the dashboard is covered with leather, there is plenty of wood trim on the center console, door panels, and the steering wheel and brushed aluminum trim to give it a sportier look.
As it stands, I’m not sure what I think of the all-new 2013 Land Rover Range Rover’s design. I like the interior, but the exterior design has been softened with rounded edges as opposed to the more boxy designs that were used in the previous generations. I personally liked the tough boxy look of the old Range Rovers, but I guess I’ll need to see one of these SUVs in person to make my final judgement.
