German automaker, Audi, has released photographs and information about the A3 and S3 sedans. Both of these sedans will hit the showroom floors in North America in 2014. The A3 Sedan will feature an identical front end to the A3 Sportback with it’s signature headlights.

This compact Audi A3 Sedan measures in at 14.63 ft in length and has a wheelbase of 8.66 ft. The A3 Sedan is 0.43-inches wider than the A3 Sportback measuring at 5.91 ft in width while the height is 4.66 ft which is actually 0.35-inches lower than the five-door version. The trunk of the Audi A3 has a capacity of 15 cubic feet. The Audi A3 Sedan will first be available in Europe with three different four-cylinder engines. The first engine is the 1.4-liter TFSI which produces a 138hp and a 184 lb-ft of torque. This engine features the COD (Cylinder on Demand) system that can deactivate two cylinders and has a fuel consumption of 50.05 US mpg (4.7 liters/100km).

The second engine that is available is the 1.8 TFSI which produces a decent 177hp and 184 lb-ft of torque while still delivering good fuel economy at 42 US mpg (5.6 liters/100km). The 1.8 model can achieve a top speed of 146 mph and do the 0-62 mph dash in 7.3 seconds. The third engine available for the Europeans is the 2.0 TDI (diesel). The diesel version produces 148hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. As expected, the fuel consumption on this model is pretty low at 57.37 US mpg (4.1 liters/100km). Although fuel efficient, it’s also on the slow side with a top speed of 136.7 mph and the 0-62 mph dash in 8.7 seconds. A manual six-speed gearbox and a dual-clutch S Tronic are used depending on the engine.

The Audi A3 Sedan is a lot more attractive on the inside than it is on the exterior. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still take this vehicle if given to me but I’m not fond of this car yet. The interior of the A3 Sedan is the same as the A3 Sportback with a slew of options to choose from. The modular infotainment system features MMI Navigation Plus, DVD Drive, 64GB hard drive, and high-res seven-inch screen.

As mentioned, the Europeans will receive the Audi A3 Sedan first and the starting price will start around $32,150 USD. The car is expected to go on sale late this summer. North Americans can purchase the vehicle in early 2014 and it will be offered in the 1.8-liter TFSI, 2.0-liter TSFI, and the 2.0 TDI Clean Diesel.

And of course Audi will also be offer the S3 Sedan who feel the need to speed. The Audi S3 Sedan sedan will feature the 2.0-liter TFSI engine tuned to produced 296 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The S3 Sedan will be able to reach a top speed of 155 mph (electronically limited) and do the 0-62 mph dash in 5.3 seconds with the six-speed manual gearbox or 4.9 seconds with the S tronic transmission. The S3 Sedan will be available in North America in mid 2014.
