2015 Volkswagen Beetle GRC

I remember when the new Beetle was introduced in the mid to late 90’s, it was all the rage at the time. Carson Daly was on MTV and even he was talking about what a head turner it was and said “it’ll get you more attention than a Ferrari!”. Oh, the good old 90’s.

The Beetle has been a feminine car ever since the “new Beetle” was introduced, VW did try to make it look more “masculine” in hopes of attracting male customers, but I still see mostly women driving these cars. However, if Volkswagen offered the Beetle GRC to the general public, it might persuade a few more men to look at these cars.

The special Beetle is part of the Andretti Rallycross team, to be raced in the 2015 Global Rallycross Championship. The VW Beetle GRC is powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder TSI engine that produces a massive 553 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed sequential gearbox, helping the car do the 0 to 60 mph sprint in a hyper-car-like 2.0 seconds! The Beetle also weighs considerably less, tipping the scales at 2,866 pounds.

The 2015 Volkswagen Beetle GRC Andretti Rallycross cars will be driven by Tanner Foust and Scott Speed.
