The United States is a wonderful country for travel for so many reasons. However, the main reason is because of its size, it spans so many different kinds of terrain. You have the mild and temperate beaches of the east coast, the stunning mountainscapes in the middle of the country, the desert, plains for miles and the stunning beaches on the Pacific Ocean.
But one thing that the US has so many of are national parks and they are all completely worth visiting if you can. Sadly, there are so many of them that many people need to prioritize. So what are some of the best national parks in this beautiful country? Well let’s find out the top three. If you’re going to see any of them, make sure to not miss these ones.
Yosemite National Park
This is probably one of the most well known national parks in the country and for good reason. It’s beautiful! In case you’re not familiar, Yosemite National Park is located in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains and the landscape is absolutely stunning. You’ve got famous sites like the Half Dome and Glacier Point. The views won’t disappoint for sure. There are hikes galore and you should be able to find one that suits your fitness level.
Yellowstone National Park
Another one of the famous national parks is Yellowstone in Wyoming (with some parts of the park branching into Montana and Idaho as well). What Yellowstone is known for are the hot springs and gushing geysers, such as the famous Old Faithful.
The reason for these hot springs is because Yellowstone is on a volcanic hotspot and seeing these dramatic geysers shoot out of the ground is pretty amazing. Apart from that, there’s some amazing wildlife in Yellowstone like bison, elk, antelope, wolves and even bears.
Grand Canyon National Park
You can’t really have a list of national parks and not include the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The Grand Canyon is incredible and with sites like Horseshoe Bend, it’s the kind of place that really puts things into perspective. The Grand Canyon has millions of years of geological history and it’s a shocking 10 miles across and a mile deep and stretches for nearly 300 miles in length.
If this isn’t impressive, we don’t know what is. With white water rapids, stunning vistas and views for miles it’s almost unreal. However, if you’re hiking Grand Canyon National Park, it’s good to be careful and wary because it’s not uncommon for people to get lost or stuck in the canyon.
The US has so many incredible landscapes but these three national parks are beyond anything anywhere else. If you’re going to visit any of the national parks in the US, these three should be at the very top of your list because of their prestige, their beauty and the history behind them.
