Transcendental meditation is a technique that has become very popular for improving energy levels and mindfulness. This simple technique is regularly practiced for around 20 min. twice a day. It often involves people sitting comfortably with their eyes closed and for using an active mind that is able to settle down and create a more silent and peaceful level for awareness. Being able to experience a stream of pure consciousness can help with improving energy levels and our own awareness over time.
TM or transcendental meditation technique really got started as a movement in India in the mid-1950s. It is silent mantra meditation and it’s been taught that thousands worldwide. Perhaps one of the most famous connections to this meditation technique took place during world tours of the Maharishi from 1958 to 1965.
Transcendental meditation eventually became practiced by many celebrities and by the year 2000 millions of people were practicing it almost every day. At its base, TM involves the use of a sound called a mantra is repeated throughout the practice. By continuously repeating the mantra it’s possible to work at clearing your mind and getting into a state of stress reduction, self development and relaxation.
Transcendental meditation is seen to be equally a religious experience as well as a nonreligious experience. It’s not something that’s typically taught in public schools but a series of scholars, scientists and sociologists regularly perform it each day to improve their mental focus.
The earliest forms of this meditation date back to Vedic traditions in India and were cultivated further by Maharishi Masheshi Yogi who became the founder of its organization from 1955 until his death in 2008. The organization continues to live on and teach transcendental meditation to new generations.
