Pants. Jeans. Trousers. Corduroy. Slacks. Everyone wears pants sometimes. It’s just part of the way we dress! Bottoms/pants have evolved, gone in and out of style, become trendy, and completely changed over the past five decades. Sometimes we choose jeans to show off our style. Occasionally, slacks or chinos are great for matching an outfit or giving a presentation. Cargo pants are ideal for lounging and relaxing. Some pants are rugged; others are more refined. Regardless of your style, pants are the quintessential sartorial companion for anyone interested in showing off their style while simultaneously enjoying utility and comfort. As we dive headfirst into the new year, here are five types of stylish pants to consider adding to your wardrobe this year.
Cargo Pants
Cargo pants are amazing. There was definitely a time when they were probably considered uncool or not as trendy as they are now but think about the practicality of cargo pants in general. They’re a little bit on the baggy side, so there’s a little bit more comfortable flow to them when you wear them. You can move around easily and because of all of the extra compartments/pockets, you can store extra stuff. That smartphone you’re carrying around all day every day will fit nicely in one of those giant pockets. During their early 2000s heydey, they were convenient for carrying extra stuff (especially while on the job). Today, they work well as a retro or throwback to a bygone era, easily enhancing your style.
Khaki/Chinos
Khaki is a sartorial institution. Commonly known as Chinos, khaki pants are light brown in color and made of a 100% cotton material. Of course, modern Chinos can come in a variety of colors but the original British military uniforms on which they were based. Chinos work well for business casual attire and for a day/night out with friends or a significant other. They work well with t-shirts, button-up shirts, and polos. For a nice look that offers comfort and durability, chinos are the way to go this year.
Corduroy
Corduroys are a phenomenal type of trousers. For the uninitiated, corduroy is a patterned material that’s soft and rigid. rigid They feature raised cords (also called wales) derives from fustian fabric. According to GQ, corduroy pants are where it’s at right now. The popular men’s magazine refers to them as “the mocha” of the pants world. Although that analogy doesn’t really work, corduroy pants are indeed something special. They are considered incredibly stylish and quite cozy. They’re easy to wear, offer a variety of fit and size ranges, and are suitable for any occasion. Whether you’re interested in a handsome take on classic fatherly clothes or desire some trousers that will help you get your work done in glorious, soft comfort, corduroy is by far the most appropriate material for the job. Corduroys also come in many color combinations, from red to gray, to black and olive. There’s a lot of choice and variety here, making them the best trousers to suit any style sensibility.
Pleated
Pleated pants are another popular, stylish choice for the man on the go. Ostensibly just a crease between the pocket and zipper, a pleat is just a fold in the fabric on trousers. In this case, it’s the fabric between the zipper of the pants and the pocket. The pleat helps conform better to the body (especially in males because they tend to have a narrower waist that’s also wider than the thighs). Pleats are good for getting a little bit more of a snug fit. And they provide for the all-important breathing room most guys need when they’re walking around throughout the day. It’s like having really good home insurance after a major windstorm—you don’t have to worry about any possible damage, because (in this case), the pleats have you covered! Forward pleats came into fashion around the mid-2000s and continue to resonate with fashionistas today. They offer an elegant, almost professional look while still screaming “casual” to onlookers. Consider pairing them with a t-shirt and sports coat, a nice polo, or some fancy footwear.
Jeans
Jeans are the ultimate symbols of working. Originally designed for workmen in the 19th century, the idea of wearing jeans grew into a worldwide phenomenon. It All began in the United States around the 1950s is a symbol of rebellion and to identify with the rugged life of the old west. Over time, jeans became a comfortable and trendy thing to wear. Today, it’s not uncommon to see most people wearing jeans at some point or another, from all walks of life. Jeans are stylish, comfortable, and absolutely wonderful. Treating yourself to a new pair of stylish men’s jeans in 2022 is the most direct (and comfortable!) way to walk around and emanate pure style this year.
