As we all get older our toys start to evolve into what we can afford and sometimes our lowering testosterone needs to be secured. Either type of scenario we need to be able to protect our Big Boy Toys from whatever might happen to the most sacred thing in our lives. Also, according to research, ⅔ of adults agree that we need more home organization for storage. An organized home is a happy and relaxed mind.
Whether it be that shiny green John Deere lawnmower, Harley Cruiser ( Envious ), or a hobby that you want to shield and protect from the environment; Protection from dirt, rain, creepy crawlies, and thieves are top priority.
Let us look at 4 different options for protection and storage:
1. Building your Own Storage Shed
Building a storage shed yourself. would not be the most thrifty solution but it would definitely get you the best bang for the buck. It is ultimately the best way to own a simple storage shed that will stand up to the test of time. This project will not only gain you a place to store your toys but reinstate your masculinity by showing your labor skills.
However, do not start growing your beard yet and buying 600$ of hammer, nails, and lumber. These type of feats always seem like the best option but make sure you have the skills, money, and time.
2. Portable Outdoor Storage Shed Tent
This is going to be your cheaper option for storage. It might be good if you need more of a lightweight shed that can travel with you on a trip or a cabin in the woods for the night. These types of storage are easy to setup and take-down in and around 10 minutes. However, we all know inside this is not the case and it always takes 5 times as long for the regular, technically challenged human.
3. Portable Fabric Roundtop Storage
This cheaper, storage alternative is more for the environment and not for protection. It will protect your outside tools such as a lawnmower or bike from rain, sun, sap, or wind depending on where you decide to put it. It also, is portable so if your living situation is not permanent then this might be a more stable and better solution than the outdoor storage tent.
4. Shed Kits
If you are still wanting to save some money and time but not skimp on quality then a shed kit might be a good option for you. These are still normally going to be made of wood but depending on which one you buy they will be ready to be put together quite easily. They come in either DIY or Prebuilt and the wood is usually primed in the DIY but not painted. The DIY just takes basic carpentry skills and is a good option for the more seasoned laborer. The prebuilt is going to be ready to put up in the backyard and fully assembled, painted, and shingled depending on the seller.
5. Prefabricated Steel Shed
Now, that we have gone through more of the lesser quality options; Let us talk about the real storage sheds on the market. These structural beasts will allow for mostly any customization and will stand up to the test of time. The best thing about having a steel storage shed is obviously the toughness but inversely a wooden shed will simply rot and decay over time.
This project is normally not something you would want to do on your own because of time, heavy labor, and tools used in making a solid steel storage shed. There are different options to approach a project and a good way is to find contractors for prefab metal buildings and they can give you different quotes to compare.
