We always write about giant robots and cool death tanks, and all the things we grew up dreaming about from comics and Transformers. It’s hard to imagine that with all these grandiose dreams that we had when we were younger, that there aren’t more amateur robots running around wreaking havoc. But somewhere, in the mist shrouded forests of… well, Vermont (not exactly Cobra territory, I know) Jaimie– a quirky, can do guy with a penchant for filming his exploits- is building one. In fact, Jaimie is kind of like the badass we all wish we could be; he needed a workshop to build a badass giant robot… so he built one in the forest. He needed a sawmill for the logs to build the workshop… so he built one of those too. He’s created the Adventure Builders Club (yeah, I don’t really know either). And so his series of videos goes- they span over 5 years of guessing and testing, building and playing, and all the amazing things he’s created along the way.
You may not watch all 68 videos, but each one is a look into Jaimie’s (admittedly pretty wacky) way of working. Outside of the fact that this giant crawling spider bot is actually up and running, Jaimie’s attitude is pretty much the standard for the finished man. He wanders out in the forest, starts chopping down trees and builds a supervillain workshop on a whim. He’s managed to put together a wicked personal all terrain robo-death machine simply by staying engaged, problem solving, and though it may sound stupid, believing in himself. I’ve included the very first video, as well as the successful test drive video, but you’re definitely doing yourself a disservice by not checking out the full series.
