For the modern gentleman, there’s no shortage of ways to spend our leisure time. However, is it just me, or are we in need of something new? All the usual suspects, like sports, video games and the gym can grow tiresome, and that’s because we’re so used to them.
And that’s why I propose a radical shift in activities. Everyone loves boating, but it’s usually only something we get to do on holiday. Why not make it your weekend life instead? Sure, it’ll be an expensive investment, but be clever with your money and you’ll be there in no time.
1. A quick source of income
If you own a boat, you can then rent out that said boat to other people and tourists. This is a quick way to make back some of that money you spent buying the thing in the first place. It also kills two birds with one stone, as you can go on the boat with the people you rented it to.
2. Water access is pretty simple
No matter where you live on the planet, it’s a safe bet that water access won’t be too far away.
At worst, it’ll be a couple of hours driving. Ultimately, this is down to you to decide. You could always store your boat near water when not in use.
3. It’s never been easier
And that’s largely down to the rise of the internet age. It means that tips when buying a new boat are extremely common, and you won’t be a blind shopper. Boat retailers are also becoming more prominent, as more and more people seek to own a boat themselves.
4. It’s an uncommon activity
And that means it’s all the more exciting. It also means you’ll be known as a trendsetter, and your friends will be all the more impressed with your purchase. Because you’re not used to it, it also becomes more enjoyable.
5. Strengthen your mind
Ever been boating on holiday? It’s incredibly relaxing. Now you can have this feeling whenever you like. On the water, you’ll be stress free, and at peace. You can truly gain some quality thinking time.
6. Become more popular
People who own boats are often likened to rock stars. Some of the most famous people in the world own boats, from JK Rowling to Billy Joel. Why not join those esteemed ranks?
7. Free holidays for you and your friends
Well, not really a holiday, but certainly a free cruise or boating trip. You can go on weekend breaks, week long trips, or even quick afternoon rides. And even better, you can bring your friends along for the ride.
8. It’s a long-term investment
Unlike an iPhone, which is out of date every year, or a games console, which is out of date every couple of years, a boat is for life. There really isn’t much to iterate on, or improve. A boat is a boat, and it’ll stay that way forever.
