Today, Carlos is a renowned entrepreneur, influencer, and author. He is the author of Financial Fight, a book in which he points out the basics of planning your retirement income and becoming financially free.
For Carlos, the desire to achieve financial freedom started from a young age. Growing up, Carlos watched his parents struggle to make ends meet. At one point, his circumstances were so extreme that he became homeless and slept on the streets. These financial struggles motivated him to work hard, and by remaining committed to his goals, Carlos joined the entrepreneurial space.
He has been in sales for over 20 years, working in different industries, from automotive to insurance. He notes his first time working in insurance was selling extended warranties. However, after a few years, he changed his focus to retirement and risk management.
When his grandfather passed away in 2010, Carlos and his family struggled as he didn’t have insurance coverage. The experience drove Carlos to choose another path, and he is now helping his clients take charge of their retirement and educating them about life insurance.
Carlos specializes in retirement strategies, life insurance, long-term care, and annuities. While the journey has not been easy, and he has faced challenges, Carlos has fulfilled his dreams by choosing not to give up.
“In life, challenges are inevitable,” says Carlos. However, how you choose to handle a situation determines your next chapter. He notes that failure is only fatal if you decide not to get back up. By changing his mindset on failure and using it as an opportunity, Carlos has scaled his venture to seven figures. Rather than solely focusing on what didn’t work, his priority is more on what he could have done better and how to avoid making a similar mistake in the future.
“I was one of my biggest obstacles,” says Carlos. He adds that every time he started to achieve a certain level of success, he would sabotage himself to remain at a “comfortable” level as he feared stepping out of his comfort zone. However, when he changed his approach towards all things, his views also changed. Carlos notes that more than failure or the risks involved, his biggest fear is regret. He knows that unless he takes the risk, he will never be sure of the outcome.
Carlos’s advice is always to remain focused on your goals and never give up. “Many people are held back by self-limiting thoughts about who they are and what they can achieve,” he says. By breaking the negative chain and embracing challenges, you are paving the way for success.
