With technology advancing and changing more quickly every day, we’re seeing more and more of our childhood gadgets becoming obsolete than any other generation. Future Fossils is an awesome series of unique, hand made cement sculptures that show our cast off tech toys after thousands of years of disuse…crumbling, stained antiquities unearthed in some space aged archeological dig. Even though a lot of these materials wouldn’t truly fossilize, the idea of holding a perfectly proportioned stone like replica of one of these items would be eerie, to say the least. Plus, there’s always the novelty of using your one of a kind, designer fossilized Atari joystick as a paperweight, fish tank accessory or super effective bludgeon. Check out the full series of Future Fossils after the jump.
Future Fossils – Where Cameras and Video Games Go to Die
These super detailed cement sculptures are each cast separately by designers Jeff Klarin and Rebecca Johnson from Bughouse Art and Design Studio. Painstakingly detailed with wear and damage, and recreated perfectly down to textures and minute screws, these pieces are actual sized and massively impressive. After each one is cast, they’re then carefully color stained to bring out detail and to create a patina. What’s even better is you can order these life sized beauties directly from the Bughouse site here. While $65 and up may seem a little pricey, when you stop to think about the fantastic workmanship and the fact that each is a hand made art piece, there are a lot more stupid things to save up for. As soon as I’m done paying off my vacuum tube beer delivery system, I’m totally snagging one of these.
do you sell these sculptures??? if so how much are the cameras?
I’m afraid we don’t, no. You’ll have to contact the person who created them. 🙂
