The highly collectible and extremely limited production Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato is one of the most beautiful classic sports cars in the world, if you really want one; it’s going to cost you a 7-figure sum because only 25 examples were built. The car was a collaboration between Aston Martin and Zagato and initially 19 cars were built in 1963 with 4 more built in 1991 and a couple more in the year 2000. The most recent auction for the DB4 Zagato ended up costing the owner $1.9 million.
If you must have one of these beautiful cars but want to spend a little less, we have a solution for you thanks to British coachbuilders Evanta Motor Company. Evanta has been building DB4 replicas for years but their latest offering is based on the Aston Martin DB7 Vantage which means the DB4 GT Zagato replica has real Aston Martin DNA.
The Evanta DB4 GT Zagato sits on the DB7’s chassis with all-new classic bodywork and is powered by the 6.0 liter V12 engine from the DB7 that produces 420 horsepower instead of the original DB4’s 3.7 liter inline-6 engine that produced 314 HP. The V12 is mated to an automatic transmission and keeps other modern amenities such as air-conditioning and air bags.
The interior is finished in red with red leather seats and carpets, the same red theme is found in the trunk, the interior has been given a retro look to go with the beautiful exterior. Although the modern steering wheel with the air bag does look out of place in this retro car, I would’ve gone with a classic steering wheel- safety be damned.
No word on the price of the Evanta DB4 GT Zagato but we’re sure it’ll be less than an original DB4 Zagato.
