Do you remember the days when games actually used live action cinematic for their cut-scenes? I know it’s been a while, but think way back – deeper and deeper – to that place in your mind which cherishes the likes of Red Alert 2’s “Tanya Escape” cutscene. Yeah, so this new live action trailer for Assassin’s Creed 3 isn’t quite like that, but it’s still pretty damn cool.
I usually can’t stand stuff like this. You see, I know exactly what they’re trying to do here; the 4th of July was but a moment ago, and they just know they can stir up those patriotic, rah rah America juices in their American audience. This usually grates on be, but surprisingly, this trailer seems to work in an odd, almost charming sort of way.
Assassin’s Creed 3 – Rise Trailer
What did you think? The whole thing was actually kind of ballsy, and if they’re trying to actually *gasp* express some kind of message here (hint: the ways thing are being run around the world aren’t that great) then my four cornered hat’s off to them. The boy saying he doesn’t want to learn about a place he’ll never visit was a bit stupid, but the rest I can handle. At least there weren’t any crying eagles sweeping across American flags, or other such cliches.
Trailer Highlights
Assassin’s Creed 3 is slated for release on November 30th, 2012, for Xbox 360 and PS3. It’s really not that far away now, and with a little bit of luck, we’ll only be experiencing a revolution in the game world, and not anywhere else.
