The 9th generation Porsche 911 Carrera was introduced last year and like previous generations, Porsche has started to slowly release variations of the all-new model. Today Porsche released pictures and information on the 2013 911 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S.
The 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and 4S will be offered in coupe and cabriolet versions; the cars are aesthetically identical to the 2-wheel drive Carrera models, introduced last year. The all-wheel drive versions do come with wider rear fenders which are 22 mm (0.87”) wider on each side compared to the 2-wheel drive models and there is a red reflector strip on the trunk, between the taillights, to differentiate the 4-wheel drive models.
The newest Porsche 911 Carreras (code named 991) are bigger and more luxurious than the cars they replace yet they’re lighter, more powerful, and more fuel efficient. The Carrera 4 is 143 pounds (65 kg) lighter and can achieve 25.5 mpg (9.2 L/100 Km).
The 400-horsepower Carrera 4S Coupe does the 0 – 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 185 mph (299 km/h), the cabriolet is a bit slower, hitting the 62 mph mark in 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 183 mph (296 km/h).
