Volkswagen Taigun Concept Vehicle

Volkswagen introduced an all-new concept at the 2012 Sao Paulo International Motor Show called the Taigun. The Tiguan Taigun is supposed to be a concept but looks pretty production ready based on these pictures below. The compact “SUV” is based on the VW ‘UP!’ and measures in at 151.9 inches in length, 43.9 inches wide, and a height of 39.9 inches making it smaller than the Nissan Juke.

The Taigun will be a four-seater with 9.88 cubic feet of cargo space but can be increased to 34.85 cubic feet of space if the rear bench seats are folded down. This tiny crossover SUV concept is equipped with a prototype version of the VW Up!  Hatchback’s 1.0-liter three cylinder direct injected, turbo-charged engine producing 108 horsepower and 129 lb-ft of torque at only 1,500rpm via a six-speed manual transmission.

The Taigun concept only weighs in at 2,172 pounds and is capable of performing the 0-100km/h dash in 9.2 seconds while it can reach a top speed of 186km/h (116mph). With a combined fuel economy of 4.5lt/100km (53.2mpg), this is an ideal vehicle for the urban environment.

The concept version of the Volkswagen Taigun comes with 17-inch allow wheels and an ESC electronic stabilization system.

There are too many segments of vehicles to choose from these days but the VW Taigun is a lot better looking than the ‘UP!’ which this vehicle is based on. No official word on whether the Taigun will actually go into production but if it does, it wouldn’t be more than a couple of years before it hits the Volkswagen showroom floors.

I personally think the vehicle is pretty cool looking and yet another great option for consumers.
