The Aston Martin Rapide S sports sedan has been in production since 2010 and is one of my favorite high-end sedans; I can’t believe we haven’t written about these cars on Unfinished Man. For 2014, the car gets a new letter added to its name; the car is now called the Aston Martin Raidpe S.
The “S” either stands for Sexy or Sport, I’m thinking the later, and the car gets an extra stable of ponies under the hood. The Rapide S is powered by a V12 engine producing 550 horsepower (80 more than the old car) and 457 pound-feet (620 Nm) of torque (an increase of 14 lb-ft). The Aston Martin Rapide S does the 0 – 60 mph sprint in 4.7 seconds, an improvement of 0.4 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 190 miles per hour (306 km/h).
Aston Martin didn’t change much on the exterior of the Rapide S, which is as sexy as ever and looks very similar to the vantage coupe. The only change is at the front; the grille gets bigger and is now one big grille instead of two separate ones found on the previous model. The interior is as posh and sporty as ever, with lots of leather applied to pretty much every surface imaginable. The interior on the Rapide S would feel at home in any exotic two-seat sports car. The rear has room for two and features sculpted bucket seats and a large console separating the two passenger compartments.
Prices have not been announced on the 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S, but expect to pay around the $200,000 mark, of course, that’s before taxes and other fees.
