Mercedes-Benz adds another lethal weapon to their ever growing arsenal; and by weapon, I mean car (which you knew, of course). The latest ultra-powerful car to come out of their factory at Affalterbach is the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 Coupe. The car will go on sale in April 2013.
This special edition C63 AMG Coupe is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2 liter V8 engine producing 507 horsepower, hence the name “Edition 507”; not to be confused with the 517 HP C63 AMG Black Series Coupe. The special edition C63 AMG Edition 507 has 56 more horsepower than the “standard” C63 AMG Coupe, and the engine produces 450 pound-feet (610 Nm) of torque. The increase in power comes curtsey of a lighter crankshaft, new connecting rods, and forged pistons borrowed from the SLS AMG.
All 507 of the ponies are sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT automatic gearbox. The car does the 0 – 60 mph sprint in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).
The special edition cars will also be available in sedan and wagon formats, with the latter being offered in Europe only. The cars are distinguished by vented hoods, tinted headlights, 19” light weight wheels, and black grill surround trim in the front.
