C7 Corvette Stingray Hatchback: The Callaway AeroWagon

If you’re into supercars but also like the practicality of hatchbacks, up until now you only had one options, the Ferrari FF.  But if you didn’t want to fork out the $250k+ for the FF, now you have another options (kind of).  The Callaway AeroWagon based on the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray.

I said “kind of” because the Callaway AeroWagon is currently a concept but it probably will make it into production, if there is enough interest.  The concept takes the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray and gives it the shooting brake treatment, also known as hatchback.

Callaway didn’t provide too many details on the AeroWagon, but they did say the kit will be priced under $15,000; I’m not sure if that includes installation.  The kit is constructed out of load carrying carbon parts using Krämer Resin Transfer Molding (KRTM) process and will be available in the fall of 2014, again, if there is enough interest.

We’re already big fans of the C7 Corvette and I think the Callaway AeroWagon Corvette looks pretty cool, it doesn’t look like a kit; it’s almost as if GM had designed the car to be a hatchback.  The Corvette Stingray is already very powerful and fast car with 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, in shooting brake form; it’s now very practical and has lots of space for golf clubs and suitcases for those weekend getaways.
