Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean GoodPlanet GMT Watch

The Planet Ocean watches by Omega are not the most visually exciting watches, but they are quite popular.  The latest watch in the line, the Omega Planet Ocean GoodPlanet GMT, does add a bit of visual flair to the watch with a blue dial and offsetting orange color on the bezel and the fourth hand.

The watch is called “GoodPlanet” to celebrate Omega’s work with the environmentalist group Good Planet Foundation, the two organizations have worked together since 2011.  The watch’s release also coincides with the release of “Planet Ocean” movie (onto DVD, I believe); the movie is directed by Yan Arthur-Bartand.

The Omega Planet Ocean GMT watch has the simple dial that’s featured on all PO watches, there’s an additional orange hand for the second time zone (GMT).  Unlike other Plane Ocean watches, the GMT has a bi-directional rotating bezel that has another 24-hour time scale, which acts as a third time zone.  The bezel is lacquered blue with orange numbers, it’s not ceramic or Liquidmetal found on other Omega PO watches.

The Omega Planet Ocean GoodPlanet GMT watch comes in a 43.5 mm stainless steel case with a helium release valve, and AR-coated sapphire crystal.  The watch features a display caseback and is water resistant to 600 meters (2,000 feet).  The watch comes with a either a stainless steel bracelet or a blue rubber strap.  The Planet Ocean GMT watch is powered by Omega’s in-house caliber 8605 automatic co-axial automatic movement with 60 hours of power reserve.  Via:  Omega
