Days of the rugged Land Rover Defender are numbered, soon to be replaced by something like the DC100, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrated the beloved SUV. Today, April 30th, marks the 60th anniversary of the iconic British SUV maker, and to celebrate, Land Rover presented the special edition Defender LXV; the “LXV” is Roman numerals for 65.
The Land Rover Defender LXV was presented at the company’s old testing location at Packington Estate, along with 130 other classic Land Rover vehicles, with the usual speeches and festivities.
The special edition LXV is based on the 3-door Defender and features the “LXV” badges on all three doors, the floor mats, and the headrests. The exterior is finished in Santorini black with Corris grey roof, headlight surrounds, and grill; the LXV rides on 16” Sawtooth wheels.
The interior is a step up from the stock utilitarian look with full leather seats with contrasting orange stitches, the stitches are also applied to the steering wheel and the center storage box.
The Land Rover Defender LXV is powered by a 2.2 liter diesel engine that produces 120 horsepower and 265 pound-feet (360 Nm) of torque, equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Defender LXV has a starting price of £28,765 (the equivalent of about $44,700) in the UK. Via: Land Rover
