Well, you should know by now that there will be no more Suzuki in USA and Canada but the car maker is doing well enough in other markets. So well, that the company has decided to to add a Suzuki Swift 4×4 model to their lineup for the UK market. The Suzuki Swift 4×4 is already available in Japan as well as Switzerland and Germany and it’s now going to be available in the UK starting this month.
The 4×4 Swift will be available with a 1.2-liter petrol engine and is being offered in the the SZ3 and SZ4 trims. I’ve seen a few a jacked up Suzuki Swfit’s around town but those appear to be suspension and wheel/tire modifications only. The vehicle seen here is the real deal.
With the growing popularity of the compact crossover, it makes sense that Suzuki is trying to get some additional market share. The Suzuki Swift 4×4 features a fully-automatic and permanent four-wheel drive system which transfers additional torque to the rear axle when necessary via a viscous coupling allowing it to corner better at higher speeds. This model also has an increased ride height by 25mm.
Tough guy is off roading!!The Suzuki Swift SZ4 also comes available with a crossover-style kit which includes front/rear skid plates, black wheel arch extensions, and black side skirts which apparently gives it a more rugged look and feel.
As with all 4×4 vehicles, the 4×4 Swift is 143 pounds heavier than the 2WD models. The Suzuki Swift 4×4 SZ3 is priced at £11,516 while the SZ4 model is priced at £13,116. The SZ4 trim also comes equipped with power folding door mirrors with indicators and daylight running headlamps as standard features.
Do people really need a Swift in 4×4? Probably not but I guess there is a market for it or they wouldn’t be making such vehicles. I would be interested to see how capable this thing is in rough conditions.
