The Luxurious Startech Defender 90 Series 3.1

A few years back we wrote about a very “posh” version of the Land Rover Defender by German tuning company Startech, called the Defender 90 Yachting Edition.  The same tuners now bring us the Land Rover Defender 90 Series 3.1.

The Land Rover Defender hasn’t changed too much over the years, but if you compare the very early models with the new models, there are distinct differences in the exterior styling.  And that’s the theme here, to make the “modern” Defender look like one of the originals, at least at the front of the vehicle.

The Startech Land Rover Defender 90 Series 3.1 is based on the Defender 110 Series 3.1 Concept we wrote about last year.  The styling pays homage to the Land Rover Series 3, produced from 1971 to 1984.  The retro theme is achieved by replacing the front grill with a Series 3 inspired grills, and that’s about the only retro thing this tough off-roader has.  The headlights and turn signals have been replaced with LED units and aluminum inserts at the front.

Startech Land Rover Defender Interior The interior is even more luxurious than the Yachting Edition, with brown and tan leather on the buckets seats, dashboard, door panels, and center storage compartment.  Brown Alcantara is applied to the headliner and the rear floor has wood panels applied to it.

Overall, the Startech Land Rover Defender 90 Series 3.1 is a very cool looking vehicle, with a luxurious interior that will give the Mercedes G-Wagon a run for its money when it comes to passenger comfort and off road capabilities.  Job well done Startech!
