The Curious Case of… Danielle – A Beautiful CG Timelapse of a Woman Aging

When we’re kids, we can’t imagine what it would be like to grow old. In fact, I think most of us believe we’re immortal, at least until we grow a little older.

We age so slowly that the effects are hard to notice in the short run. It’s not until much later in life that we started to think, shit man… I’m starting to get worn out. A childhood photo, the exhaustion that comes so much quicker than it did just a few years earlier; that kind of thing. But what if we could see a glimpse into the future?

Danielle’s Life Flashed Before Her Eyes…

With a lot of talent – and a bit of CG magic – film maker Anthony Cerniello and his merry band of animators and photographers have figured out a way to give us a glimpse into our distant future, at least in terms of how we look.

I suggest you grab a cup of tea, and then sit back and relax. This clip is very subtle, so I humbly ask that you try and be patient. I promise you, the payoff is well worth the slow pace.

What did you think? Would you want to see your own face aging before your very eyes?

Though the effect was incredible, I’m not sure I would want to see my face up there. I’ve lost any illusions of naturally living forever (I still hold out hope for medical science, though), but in my mind, I’m not exactly aging either. I still feel about the same as I did 5 years ago, though perhaps a little wiser. I don’t really want to know what I’ll look like when I’m an old man. I think that time will come soon enough.

In any case, I would love to hear your thoughts on the video, and encourage you to learn a little bit about how it was made as well. The process was actually surprisingly simplistic for such a visually impressive piece.

  1. we all know it’s inevitable but seeing it happen so quickly is a little disturbing. I think I am happy with the day to day or year to year process where we can ignore some of the changes. although wwe are re,reminded pretty quickly if we try to chat up or flirt with girl much younger than ourselves. My son is a body builder and buys supplements from the store of the famous sailor man cartoon. I came home the other night and told him i just went to Popeye’s he asked me what i got, I said chicken. Anyway being 60 I have done all the body building I need to do. I have even put on a few additions and it comes with a water feature that I didn’t order which I might add runs on automatic. Such is life. Don’t sweat the small stuff, but that’s another story.
