Zenith El Primero Lightweight Carbon Fiber Watches

Swiss watchmaker Zenith is known for producing some of the finest watches that are not only elegant looking but also very sporty.  Their latest offering, the limited edition Zenith El Primero Lightweight might just be the sportiest watch they have on offer.

The name of this watch is “Lightweight” and the whole exercise here is to produce a watch that’s lightweight, hence the use of carbon fiber on the case.  The watch is based on the El Primero Striking 10th models (ref 10.2260.4052W/98.R573), with the case size being increased from 42 mm to 45 mm with a thickness of 13.2 mm.  Thanks to the use of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials, the rather large watch weighs only 40 grams.

Zenith-El-Primero-Lightweight-watch_2 To reduce weight, the inner components are made out of ceramised aluminum and silicone.  The movement itself weighs only 15.4 grams and is placed inside the beautiful and very sporty carbon fiber case.  The dial is partially skeletonized in parts and comes with three sub-dials for the chronograph function.  A date window is placed at the 6 o’clock position that also gives you a partial preview of the date wheel; the date is displayed in red.  The dial and the caseback are covered with AR coated sapphire crystal and the watch is attached to a Nomex lined rubber strap.

The Zenith El Primero Lightweight watches are limited to 100 pieces and are priced at $22,000 each.   Via: Zenith
