We’ve done a few reviews on a number of headphone brands such as the KRK, Dr. Dre Beats, and a few from Phiaton. The brand, Phiaton, not well known by the masses is starting to gain popularity and their line of headphones is expanding very quickly. One of their newest releases is the MS 500 Bridge headphones and they are sexy as hell. Visually, the Bridge MS 500 are easy on the eyes. Beats set the black and red trend but Phiaton is elevating it. These particular headphones really appeal to me thanks to its triangular ear cups and clean lines. Sex appeal is written all over these cans. You will also notice that the exterior of the earphones resemble an over-sized guitar pick.
Although the Phiaton Bridge MS 500’s are supposed to be over-ear headphones, they are a hybrid between over-ear and on-ear. If you have medium sized ears or dumbo sized like mine, then you will have difficulties getting them inside the leather pads. And after a while, you might feel discomfort. So in my experience, it was better to use these headphones as on-ear instead. Besides that complaint, the headphones are really comfortable (if used as on-ear) and the headband’s padding is also very comfortable and features plenty of padding which doesn’t leave much pressure on your head but just the right amount of tightness around the ears which provide noise cancelling-like performance.
The headphones also feature a removable cable, and it comes with two – one with an inline microphone and remote control, the other with none. Each of the tangle-free cables are wrapped in a protective red cloth and connect to either the left or right ear. The removable cables are a bonus as it is less expensive to replace a cable than an entire pair of headphones should something happen to the headphones. The Bridge MS 500 also includes a stylish leather carry case and a 6.3mm headphone adapter.
Stylish looks and functionality aside, the Phiaton Bridge MS 500 headphones also out perform many of the competing brands within its price point. If you like bass, the MS 500 offers very impressive bass response with little to no distortion at high volume levels and low frequencies still sound intense at reasonable listening levels. With so many brands and models, it really does become difficult to choose a set of headphones that are right for you. Unfortunately, because of the many options available – people just end up choosing the mainstream, overpriced set for $300 when it really should be worth $75. If you like intense bass and low frequencies, then the Phiaton Bridge MS 500 are probably an ideal option for you. It has a rich low end but also just enough of the high frequency presence to maintain a balance.
At $269 on Amazon, there really isn’t much to complain about. The Phiaton Bridge MS 500 headphones will definitely be an excellent addition to your headphone collection.
