Vancouver’s Hopscotch Festival: Glenfiddich and Wounded Warriors Canada

It’s that time of year again. Hopscotch, Vancouver’s premium whisky, beer, and spirit festival is making its way to delivery an annual examination that tests the limits of our livers. There’s tons in store for this week’s festivities, so to kick off our series of articles we just couldn’t turn down to check out what Glenfiddich had prepared for the premiere.

As they prepared for the evening’s master class, a scotch tasting entrenched with the historical background of the brand, representatives from Glenfiddich introduced us to the partnership they established with Wounded Warriors Canada.

The non-profit organization assists with members of the Canadian Forces who are returning from conflict zones and need help readjusting back into civilian life. The program centers around providing animal-assisted therapy to those struggling with PTSD. And after a long somber day of thoughts that fill around Remembrance Day, I can only fractionally imagine what some of these very brave individuals still have to go through each day.

The collaboration between the two parties provides $2 from every bottle of Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera Scotch sold across the country to be donated to Wounded Warriors Canada. As of this month, the donations have reached $131, 616.

This of which does not include last years contribution when Glennfiddich auctioned off a rare bottle of Glenfiddich scotch, the “Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve 55 Year Old,” which set the record as the most expensive bottle of whisky sold at auction in Canada, selling for $52,000.

So, here’s your chance for you do your part! How often can you drink scotch and say you’ve donated just a little something that would mean so much for those who sacrificed everything.

But if you’re thinking, its only $2, well then, put up or shut up! Here’s the link so you can directly donate to Wounded Warriors Canada.

And stay tuned to UFM if you’re looking for more Hopscotch articles.  Later in the week, we’re not only hitting the master classes for Glenmorangie and, of course, Johnny Walker because 36 year veteran of distilling, Michael Nicolson’s dark comedic enthusiasm for scotch gives my abs its annual work out, but we’re also going to try to cover as much as of the Grand Tasting Hall!

Cheers!
