We’ve talked about Etsy before, mostly because of our general approval of the many blatant examples that prove the old adage that sex sells. It’s a strange and wondrous place largely composed of unbalanced women who have more modelling clay than sense and a never-ending supply of vaginas and penises made out of anything that holds still long enough to be pulled into the maw of the relentless crafter. However… if you can sift through the pubic hair crochet and the moon-blood based, ‘ethically sourced’ food dyes, there are men and women who are keeping the glimmering hope of hand crafted artistry alive. Rick Daniels is one of those pioneering spirits, and his insanely beautiful video game stained glass is worthy to be hung in any place of worship but can be attained by we un-anointed to grace our man caves.

I always love to watch someone talented work at… whatever it is they are best at. There’s something that makes an object of desire even more fascinating when you’ve personally witnessed the process of its creation. Rick’s Facebook page is constantly updated with the masterpieces that he’s working on, but he also shares glimpses of his workspace, the search for the perfect materials, and the designs that he and his customers come up with. His Etsy store is full of pieces that start out as small in size as stained glass night lights, and as low in price as $50. When you consider he sources, matches, draws, cuts, fits, solders, polishes and frames up every piece of glass by hand, the fact that ‘love’ is listed as one of the production materials couldn’t be more true and makes his creations priceless. If you’re not ready to shell out the big bucks, you can still support his art and class up your joint by purchasing a print of his most iconic work.
If you’re looking for all of his links and contact info in one place, then start with his website. If you’re looking for an heirloom that you’ll cherish for life that reflects your somewhat geeky tastes, I urge you to support Rick in his quest to become the most beloved artisan of our time. BUT DON”T ORDER AN ANIMATED SERIES BATMAN BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT I ORDERED SO DON’T COPY ME, GET YOUR OWN IDEAS JERKS.
There is no etsy store. And the business is under new ownership.
And are you aware of complaints about this business?
Thanks for the update. No, haven’t heard any complaints.
It’s a bit weird that this is written now because he kind of quit and started a new venture… A good thing I guess because the succes might have been overwhelming resulting in complaints and such. I hope with the help of a team he’ll continue creating cool stuff while being able to live up to any expectation
Also weird is the link to his Etsy, this might have been relevant 4 years ago when he had it. For the past 2 years I follow his artwork his Etsy shop has been shut down. After reading this article the most surprising thing to me was the date is was published.. Is this maybe based on an feature written earlier?
