Volvo Concept Estate

Volvo had been going through some tough times recently, but the company was bought by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group of China and things seem to be turning around.  I didn’t think the company would make it and haven’t been paying much attention to their vehicles lately.  But when I saw the new Volvo Concept Estate, the company has my attention again!  This is actually their third concept car; the other two were the “Concept Coupe” and “Concept XC Coupe”, presented at the Frankfurt and Detroit Auto shows.

The Concept Estate is based on the Concept Coupe, and is a stunning car; it definitely deserves to be put into production.  It’s a two-door station wagon, or rather a “shooting brake” as the Europeans like to call it, but it should sell well, at least amongst people that are looking for something a little different.  Heck, I’d buy one if the price is right.

Volvo has been known for their seats, which are some of the safest in the industry, and ergonomically designed interiors.  The interior on the Concept Estate is very simple yet eye-catching.  Like most new premium cars, you won’t find many buttons on the interior of this car; instead there is a large touchscreen in the center console to control the various systems.  I don’t mind these touchscreen systems, as long as their displays are crisp and the response time is instant.

The rest of the interior is very elegant with a pair of bucket seats in the front that have plaid backs and lots of room behind the rear seats.

Hopefully Volvo does put this car and even the other two concepts into production, they’ll start to become relevant again and people like me won’t forget about them.  Via: Volvo
