Playing with Legos used to be quite fun when we were kids, I remember the big boxes/buckets of those beautiful colorful bricks and letting my imagination run wild. But over the years, Legos became boring, not because it wasn’t fun to play with them (even as grownups), but Lego took all the creativity out of these little bricks by bundling them in “themed” packages and not letting us explore our creativity.
I recently started making my own “amazing” creations out of Legos, thanks to my 7-year-old niece, who happened to have a stack of her dad’s original Legos from the 1980s.
Now, as much as I hate these predetermined themes, there is one upcoming Lego set I’m really excited about. The Lego Mini Cooper (#10242), which features the original Mini from back in the day.
The classic Mini Lego set is due to be released on August 1st with a price tag of $99. The Mini looks pretty cool, in classic British racing green with white stripes on the hood, white mirrors, and a white roof. The entire set consists of 1,077 pieces and is definitely not for kids (I had to say that to make it easier for me to justify buying a Lego set).
The completed Lego Mini Cooper measures 5″ long, 4″ tall, and 4″ wide. The car comes with opening doors, hood, and trunk (boot) and the roof can be removed for a better view of the interior. The interior comes with classic cream-color seats that fold for access to the back seats and the steering wheel, handbrake, and gear lever moves.
At the front, the car has the iconic large headlights and a pair of fog lights, there’s a classic Mini emblem above the grill. At the back, the trunk comes with a picnic basket, a blanket, and a bottle of water. Under the trunk space is a hidden compartment for a full-size spare tire. These guys think of everything!
