Over the last few months, Ubisoft has released a ton of promotional footage for their upcoming game Assassin’s Creed: Unity. They’re masters of marketing.
The reason I say this is because, let’s be honest here… who doesn’t like parkour? To design an entire game franchise around assassins that travel around the city climbing, jumping, and diving? A stroke of brilliance.
Speaking of stroking… that’s not what I’m here to do. Instead, I would like you to check out this fantastic parkour video. Directed by David Graham, and performed by Ronnie Shalvis and the French FreeRun Family, you’ll experience over 3 minutes of beautiful parkour as these guys bound around the city of Paris.
Follow the Creed… the Assassin’s Creed
That, or you can just chase these two guys dressed like 18th Century French soldiers. Come to think of it, Ronnie and friends are all dressed up too. Imagine how this must have looked to all the passersby… just another day in Paris.
Now, you might have found this page looking to learn parkour. You just finished one of the Assassin’s Creed games, and you’re ready to go. Your mind is a sponge, and there’s no better way to improve at a physical activity than by watching videos of it on the Internet. If you’re one of those people, I’ve got some unfortunate news for you: you’re going to get yourself killed.
I trained parkour for many years, and you know which kind of people usually got hurt? The ones that saw a video on the Internet and, shall we say, dove right into things. Yes, this is a round about way of saying “please don’t try this at home, folks.” These guys aren’t professionals, but they’ve definitely been doing this for a lot longer than you have.
No, if you’re looking to properly learn parkour and become the master assassin you were destined to be… after having decided this playing a video game, then your best bet is to learn the basic movements with friends and work your way up. The friends part is important, as they’ll drive you to the hospital if you break your neck. I mean, providing they actually like you.
I hope you enjoyed the video, and if you have any other awesome parkour videos you want to share, you can do so by leaving a comment.
