Christopher Ward C70 3527 GT Chronometer Watch

The Christopher Ward C70 3527 GT Chronometer watch is made with metal from the rare Ferrari 250 GTO; don’t worry though, no GTOs were harmed in the making of these watches or writing of this post.

London-based Christopher Ward used metal from a Ferrari 250 GTO owned by wealthy Scottish nobleman Irvine Laidlaw. Irvine bought the GTO in 2005 and had it professionally restored, all the corroded and damaged metal was replaced, the old metal was acquired by a company called TMB Artmetal. TMB specializes in buying these types of “special” metal and that’s how we get to this point.

The metal from the Ferrari 250 GTO is placed in the caseback, with a large number 6 carved out. The “6” represents this car’s license plate, which is “6 GTO”. The other significant number in the watch’s name is “3537”, which is the chassis number of this particular car, found on the side of the watch. The number “22.5.1962” on the tachymeter represents the date this particular car left the Ferrari factory (May 22, 1962); only 39 Ferrari 250 GTOs were ever produced.

The Christopher Ward C70 3527 GT Chronometer watch itself features a very eye catching design, with a bright Ferrari-red bezel and dial. The dial comes with three black chronograph sub-dials and a large “12” with a yellow circle around it. I’m not sure what the 12 represents (other than 12 o’clock).

The watch comes in a 42mm stainless steel case with a black Italian leather strap with red stitching; the dial is covered with AR coated sapphire crystal. The watch is equipped with a COSC certified chronometer ETA 251.233 quartz movement and is water resistant to 100 meters.

The Christopher Ward C70 3527 GT Chronometer watches are limited to 100 pieces and are priced at $2,950. Via: CW
