Though I’ve never been a huge fan of the Uncharted series of games – it’s nothing personal, the game-play style just isn’t my thing – I do find the artwork and overall visuals quite striking. Naughty Dog has no trouble making an absolutely beautiful looking game. Take Nathan Drake for example…
This is a collection of high resolution images of Uncharted’s hero, Nathan Drake. He’s been the protagonist of the series since the beginning, and with each game his character has become more and more realistic looking. That may sound like a given, but in my opinion, the Uncharted 4 version of Nathan Drake is truly a quantum leap in visual fidelity.
Have a look at his arm and you’ll notice physical hair. Not just a texture plastered to the model, but hair that sticks out. It’s a minor detail, but it’s the little details that really make something stand out.
Again, Nathan has actual stubble on his face, as opposed to simply painting the hairs onto the texture. They stick out, look quite realistic, and even cast little shadows onto Nathan’s neck.
I could go on and on, but instead I’ll let you pour over the photos and discover all the little details for yourself. Even if you’re not a fan of the franchise, I think everyone can appreciate the awesome visuals.
These images were released by Naught Dog’s Lead Character Artist, Frank Tzeng. If you’re interested in seeing more of his amazing work, you can do so on this website. The level of detail in all his models is nothing short of amazing.
