One of my favorite book franchises is The Expanse, written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck under the pen name James S. A. Corey. If you like epic space adventures, then this talented duo is a solid bet.
As it turns out, I’m not the only person that enjoys their books. SyFy has picked up the rights to the books and is producing a series of the same title. It’s coming out later this year and stars the legendary Thomas Jane of The Punisher fame.
The pilot was written by Academy Award-nominated screenwriting duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, the guys that wrote Iron Man and the movie adaptation of Children of Men. No shortage of talent here.
But enough of my babbling, you’re here to see the trailer.
I’ve had a chance to read all the books, and though it’s tough to say how close this adaption will match them, I expect great things. If you’re worried, this trailer spoiled almost nothing. Just subtle hints at what might really be going on in this exciting universe, a version of our own set 200 years in the future.
But you know what? As amazing as I expect the show will be – yes, despite it being produced by SyFy – I highly recommend picking up the books before the show drops. In fact, I even recommend reading said picked up books. I promise, you won’t be able to put them down.
The first book is Leviathan Wakes and you can order a copy right here.
