Huawei Watch – China’s Answer to the Apple Watch

Chinese telecommunications equipment maker Huawei is one of the biggest cellphone makers in the world, their phones are not that popular in North America but the company has a big market share of the Asian market. Now the company is joining the ever expanding sector of smart watches.

The company’s first smart watch is called the Huawei Watch (like the Apple Watch) and is powered by Android Wear operating system. It will be available around June of 2015 with a yet to be determined/announced price.

Huawei opted to go with the traditional round dial on their smart watch, like the Moto 360 and the latest LG Urbane smart watch. The watch comes in a 42 mm stainless steel case, there are three finished offered on the watches: gold, silver, and black. The dials are covered with sapphire crystal and the dials can be personalized from a selection of 40 pre-loaded layouts. The dial features a 1.4” AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 286 pixels per inch.

The Chinese company didn’t provide any information on what type of hardware the watch will use or other important stuff like battery size/life and storage capacity. The watch will make use of the standard apps from Google Play store and should be able to handle phone calls, text messages, and emails. Via: Huawei
