Images and information on the C-Class Coupe was released just a few days ago, so it’s only natural for Mercedes to release the hardcore AMG version of the car soon after that. And today we get our first look at the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe and C63 S Coupe.
The C-Coupe is a decent looking car, I’ll hold final judegment until I see it in person, but the C63 AMG Coupe is definitely the better looking of the two, based on just pictures. The C63 AMG Coupe features a cleaner front grill, more aggressive front bumper, wider wheel arches, a trunk-lid spoiler, a diffuser, and an aero kit. The AMG Coupe is 2.51” wider at the front and 2.59” wider at the rear than the standard coupe, the wider wheel arches help house 10” (255mm) front tires and 11.2” (285mm) rear tires.
At the heart of the C63 AMG Coupe is the 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 engine found on the C63 AMG Sedan. In the base C63 AMG Coupe, it produces 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, while in the S trim, it produces 503 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed SPEEDSHIFT MCT transmission. The 0 – 60 mph sprint takes 3.9 seconds in the standard C63 Coupe and 3.8 seconds in the C63 S Coupe, with electronically limited top speed of 155 mph and 180 mph respectively.
The Mercedes-AMG C63 and C63 S Coupes will be available in North America in the summer of 2016 as 2017 models.
