I really love Spain. Why? Well there’s the rich culture, for starters. Then there’s the breath-taking coastal scenery, the gorgeous countryside and the rich, flavoursome food. When you add in the sun and the hot weather, the question should be “what’s not to like?”
Having visited the country many times over the years, I went online to find new resorts to discover. I stumbled across this all-inclusive holiday graphic by alpharooms and found, due to my interests and travel preferences, that I was a great match for the island of Majorca.
With its hot, Mediterranean climate, Roman history and golden sandy beaches, it ticked all the boxes for a winter escape. The only remaining question was which resort to stay at?
I’d heard about the Playa de Palma region previously as a popular summer spot for tourists, and as I was travelling with four mates, this seemed an ideal location for a mix of beach fun, nightlife and crazy golf! After some searching around I came across the Palma-Bay Club Resort in the El Arenal area. It fit our budget perfectly and was conveniently located for everything we had planned. Location
The Atlantis Palma Bay Club sits in an excellent position in a quiet area of El Arenal, 7km from the airport. The resort itself is only 250 metres from the nearest beach. This beach is draped in white sand and is just about as picturesque as you can get on the island of Majorca (which is saying something!).
Apartments
The apartments that my mates and I stayed in (there were five of us) were very clean. All of them were well-appointed, with all of the modern amenities we needed for a comfortable stay.
Our rooms were set in one of four buildings in the actual complex (there are seven in total). Because it is such a large resort, you are less likely to have any trouble making your reservation.
All rooms come equipped with their own private balcony, electric fan, complete bathroom, hair dryer, satellite TV and telephone. Wi-Fi and the use of a safe deposit box were chargeable. Some rooms had air-conditioning at an additional charge.
Catering
My friends and I were very well catered for with a wide range of bars and dining options. These included the Copacabana buffet restaurant, the Oriental Restaurant, a pizzeria, a snack bar, a grill, and poolside bar.
Entertainment
The entertainment side of things is where the Palma Bay Club resort comes into its own. Apart from the beach nearby, you can also play tennis, volleyball, French bowling, table tennis and mini-golf. There’s also a gym, sauna and a Jacuzzi.
As illustrated by a highly positive TripAdvisor review of the hotel, this is also a family-friendly resort. There’s a kids’ club, playground and games room. If you’re bringing kids with you then there’s no shortage of daily activities to keep them busy, particularly useful if you need some peace and quiet for a few hours. These include arrow shooting, bowling, pool games and mini disco in the evening.
