The Ford Fiesta ST and the Ford Focus ST are great examples of vehicles which give you lots of power without having to drop bucket loads of cash. The funny thing about humans, we are never satisfied with how much we have and always seeking more. In the case of Ford’s lineup of vehicles, the Ford Racing division is always on the search for more power for vehicles such as the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, and the all-new Mustang via ECU tuning.
Ford Racing’s ProCal Tool is a hand-held programming device which will allow you to modify engine performance by making adjustments to a number of engine parameters. You can now increase the torque on Ford Focus ST by up to 90 lb-ft without having to worry about your Ford-backed limited warranty. How cool is that?
For the time being, Ford’s ProCal Tool is available for the Fiesta ST’s 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine and for the Focus ST’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine for only $595! You simply plug the device into the vehicle’s diagnostic link connector port which gives you access to a number of aspects of the car’s performance parameters such as idle speed, throttle response, fuel curves, turbo wastegate, and spark timing.
Ford Racing is also said to be working on developing a similar system for the all-new Mustang 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine and should be available by the end of 2015. And for those who don’t give a damn about their factory warranty, Ford is currently working on several projects with aftermarket tuning companies offering high-performance accessories.
