At Baselworld 2015, Alpina introduced their first in-house Manufacture Flyback Chronograph watch, powered by the AL-760 automatic movement, a feat achieved for the first time in the watchmaker’s 132 year history. For Baselworld 2016, Alpina will be introducing the Alpiner 4 Black Flyback Manufacture Chronograph watch, powered by the same AL-760 movement flyback chronograph automatic movement.
The “Full Black” version of the watch is based on the 2015 watch, but with a more sportier look to it, as opposed to the classic look of the 2015 watch. The Alpiner 4 Black Flyback Manufacture Chronograph watch comes in a 44mm case that’s black PVD coated. In addition to making the watch look sporty, it also helps protect the watch from daily wear and tear.
The dial on the “Full Black” version is almost identical to the 2015 Flyback Chronograph watch, except in this watch the dial is black and there’s beige luminous material applied to the hands and indices. The outer dial features a telemeter, and the inner dial has three sub-dials at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. The 3 and 9 o’clock sub-dials are for seconds and minutes, and the 6 o’clock sub-dial displays the 31 days of the month. Each of the sub-dials are sunken and feature tiny circular patterns, giving the dial a deep look.
The hour and minute hands on the sub-dials all come in the beige luminous material. On the side of the case are two pushers and a screw-down crown with the triangular Alpina logo. To finish off the watch, the dial is covered with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and the watch comes with a black leather strap with beige stitching.
At the heart of the Alpiner 4 Black Flyback Manufacture Chronograph watch is the AL-760 movement, which consists of 233 components, with 32 jewels, and beats at 28,800 alt/h. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters and comes with a 38 hour power reserve.
The Alpiner 4 Black Flyback Manufacture Chronograph watch is expected to be priced around the 5,000 USD mark.
