I admit it, I’m not much of a motorcycle guy. In fact I’ve only been on one once in my life, and even then, not as the driver. No, usually I leave the automotive stuff to Eddie and Faisal, both far more knowledgeable than I am… but not this time.
You see, it takes a special kind of vehicle to get me worked up enough to actually write about it. Something like, oh… a Jankel Armored Toyota 76 Landcruiser, or say, this beautiful Art Deco styled 1930 Henderson Motorcycle. You know, vehicles like that.
Check this out…
The 1930 Henderson Motorcycle of the Future
I can’t tell you much (other than that I would ride this like a… awesome motorcycle), but what I can say is that this was customized by a fellow named O. Ray Courtney before the second World War, and is currently owned by a collector in Syracuse, NY, by the name of Frank Westfall.
Frank, if you’re reading this… would you, uh… let me take a ride on your bike?
If there were motorcycles in Bioshock’s underwater city of Rapture, then I have no doubt that they would look just like this customized Henderson motorcycle. No… doubt.
And speaking of water, the design of this thing is as fluid as something extremely fluid, like water… or molasses. I bet I could drive this right onto the ocean like that vehicle from that James Bond movie.
Now, I’m afraid that’s all I’ve got at the moment. In fact, I don’t even know exactly where these photos are from, so if any of you happen to know, would you kindly leave me a message in the comments and I’ll be sure to add the proper credit!
Thanks to whoever tweeted William Gibson about this one. I would have never heard about it otherwise, and that would be sad. Now, I wonder if this thing could be outfitted with a sidecar to seat my pet monkey Bonhomme….
