Finally, we get a chance to see Connor in action in this Assassin’s Creed 3 world premiere gameplay trailer. Like Ezio and Altair before him, Connor appears to have a wide range of moves and battle techniques, all with animations far better than the previous titles in the franchise.
This trailer is a first for AC3 in more than a few ways. We finally get a chance to hear Connor’s voice (which sounds awesome) and we get a chance to see him kicking some red coat ass. There’s one problem though; his claim of no allegiance rings hollow after he kills red coat after red coat. I think you’ll see what I mean in a moment.
Assassin’s Creed 3 Gameplay Footage
Visually Assassin’s Creed 3 is a significant step up from its predecessor. The world looks a lot more varied, and more perhaps more importantly, it looks a lot more alive. There seems to be a lot more going on, even in the wilderness. If the trailer is any indication, we’ll have many opportunities to beat the shit out of bears and other wild life. Perhaps they’ll be like the beggars from the original AC, hassling people… slowing them down… asking for scraps of meat.
Now, though AC3 looks visually impressive – and with seemingly evolved gameplay – I can’t help but be concerned over the story. Oh, I have no doubt it will be as convoluted and conspiracy-filled as the previous games, but as I mentioned earlier, I didn’t see Connor take down anyone but the king’s men. I find this amusing because he does this moments after saying “in the name of liberty, I’ll fight the enemy… regardless of their allegiance”. Is this simply a marketing angle, or will the developers really pander to a certain world power we all know and love?
Trailer Highlights
Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure; I’m going to spend many hours diving through people’s windows, hopefully startling them in a hilariously over the top manner.
The AC3 release date is October 20th, 2012.
