Over the last two decades, China has become an economic powerhouse thanks in part to a great number of manufacturers setting up factories in China and producing most of the world’s goods. With all this economic activity, money is flowing into China and there are a large number of wealthy people that are willing to spend on luxury items. Many of these factory owners, CEO’s, and upper management love to spend their money on luxury automobiles such as Bentley and others. But merely having a Bentley is not enough, these guys need something special to set them apart from their neighbors.
Seeing the demand, Bentley decided to produce a special edition car only for the Chinese market. Bentley has teamed with up British high-end furniture makers Linley to produce an ultra-luxurious Bentley Continental Flying Spur.
David Linley, Chairman of Linley, commented on this collaboration:
It is a great honour to be working alongside such an esteemed British brand as Bentley. Our two brands share a commitment to superlative craftsmanship and design. I believe that the culmination of our efforts will result in a car that is utterly unique and reflective of the passion that both brands share for pushing boundaries of engineering and excellence.
Only 10 Continental Flying Spur Linley Edition sedans will be produced, making them very exclusive and very expensive. The upgrades in the CFS are focused on the interior; special veneers in Santos rosewood are applied to all the surfaces that are normally covered in chestnut or walnut on “regular” Continental Flying Spurs. The Linley edition cars will also come with specially crafted items such as a humidor in the back console, rhodium coated plaque, a Linley branded leather bag with cashmere blanket, and contrasting piping on the leather upholstery.
No word on when the Bentley Continental Flying Spur Linley Edition will be available for sale or how much it will cost.
