The sixth generation BMW 3 Series finally has a station wagon (F31) in the lineup and unlike the previous generation, this 3 Series wagon will be available in North America. The 3 Series wagon will be called Touring in Europe and Sports Wagon in North America, in Europe the car will go on sale later in 2012 while North Americans will have to wait until spring 2013 to get their hands on these sporty wagons.
In Europe the BMW 3 Series Touring will initially be offered in three varieties, one gasoline engine and two diesel engines. The 328i Touring will be powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 241 horsepower, the 320d Touring will be powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine producing 181 horsepower, and the 330d Touring will be powered by a turbocharged 3.0 liter in-line six diesel engine producing 255 horsepower. BMW didn’t release any information on which engines will be available in the North American spec 3 Series Sports Wagon but we’re assuming they’ll offer the same engines as the ones offered in the 3 Series sedan.
