The Bugatti Veyron supercar was the big dog for quite a long time; it had a massive amount of power and is currently the world’s fastest production car, according to Guinness World Records.
The Veyron has been around for a while, it was introduced in 2005, will the 500 units sold now, it’s time for a replacement. Bugatti has just released the successor to the Veyron, called the Chiron. The Chiron picks up where the Veyron left, it comes with lots of power and it’s as ugly as its predecessor. Alright, maybe it’s not as ugly as the Veyron and has some nice styling elements, but it doesn’t have the beauty of an Italian supercar.
But there’s a saying that goes something like “it’s what’s on the inside that counts”; and boy does the Chiron have something special on the inside. It’s powered by a 8.0 liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, producing 1,478 horsepower… yes that’s nearly fifteen hundred ponies!! The W16 also produces a whopping 1,180 pound-feet of torque between 2,000 and 6,700 rpm. Power is sent to all-four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
According to Bugatti, the Chiron should do the 0 – 62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in under 2.5 seconds, and do the 0 – 124 mph (200 km/h) in less than 6.5 seconds! This cars gets to 124 mph faster than many cars can get to 60 mph. The Bugatti Chiron also has very fast top speed of 261 mph (420 km/h) and the speedometer goes all the way up to 500 km/h; the top speed has been electronically limited.
The interior is also a beautifully crafted space, it’s covered with luxurious, carbon fiber, and aluminum. The interior on the Chiron supercar would feel right at home in a luxury car like Bentley or Rolls Royce.
Just like the Veyron, Bugatti will build only 500 examples of the Chiron, prices starting at a cool 2.6 million USD; 150 of these cars have already been spoken for.
