To say the all-new C7 Corvette Stingray has been a huge success would be an understatement; I don’t think I’ve ever seen a GM product get so much attention, which is well deserved. The C7 Corvette is a very nice looking car and we’re huge fans of it, without even seeing it in person. The car hasn’t been released yet but should be hitting showrooms soon and I think there will be a long waiting list, if there isn’t one already.
No Corvette model is complete without a drop top model, and at the Geneva Motor Show, GM presented the C7 Corvette Stingray Convertible.
The Corvette Stingray Convertible looks pretty much like the coupe, minus the hard roof and obviously it doesn’t have the fastback look created by the steeply raked rear window. The roof and C-Pillars are my favorite design features of the C7 Corvette but the convertible doesn’t look too bad without them.
The C7 Corvette convertible is powered by the same 6.2 liter small-block V8 engine found in the coupe, producing 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. The convertible Corvette will probably be a bit slower in the 0 – 60 mph sprint and have a few mph lower top speed.
The cloth roof is fully automated and can be raised and lowered with the touch of a button, located by the steering wheel. The roof can be operated while the Vette is in motion, up to 31 mph (50 km/h).
