Casio G-Shock GW-A1100 Aviator Watch

At the 2013 Baselworld show, Casio introduced a new flagship model in their G-Shock line, the G-Shock GW-A1100.  The watch is designed with pilots in mind, but we all know a lot of non-pilots will be buying these pretty cool looking watches.  Like other G-Shock watches, the GW-A1100 series looks very tough and big; they didn’t provide us too many details.

The G-Shock GW-A1100 watch comes in a tough shock-resistant case and comes with Casio’s Multi Mission Drive system, a system that uses independent motors for each of the hands.  I’m not going to lie; I don’t really understand how this system works and what its benefits are.

The Casio G-Shock GW-A1100 comes loaded with features like a compass, multiple time zones, alarms, stop watch, calendar and is powered by the sun. Via: Casio

  1. These watches look great. However- since you always see them with the dials highly magnified, it’s easy to miss the fact that the information on the dials is so small that they are simply not practical for actual use. Even with 20/20 eyesight they have to be held very close to read. Add to that the vibration of most military aircraft in flight and this watch is simply for looks.
