It’s very rare that I watch the news, and with good reason. Most news reports are absolute trash. The odd time that I happen to catch a glimpse of the local news, my eyes begin to uncontrollably roll back in their sockets as I fight back the urge to toss myself out of the nearest window or high place. It’s not just the content that’s the problem, but the delivery as well, and that’s the focus of this awesome parody. Charlie Brooker has completely nailed the tone and style of many of the news reports that plague our television. If you haven’t read any of Charlie’s work before, I highly recommend reading his article on Tonsillitis.
What I really like about this video is that Charlie is absolutely straight-faced and tosses in the odd bit of mildly agitated profanity. This seems to be a quality that only the British possess, and it’s even more refreshing to hear it from a journalist, especially when he’s making fun of the entire news and broadcasting industry.
