In 2011 we wrote about the Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave watch, the world’s first watch to adjust time automatically by receiving signals from GPS satellites, making them extremely accurate. The watched synced with 24 satellites orbiting the earth, which meant your watch always had accurate time, no matter where you were.
Earlier this year, the Japanese watchmaker introduced their flagship GPS watch, called the Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave F100. The new watch is the thinnest GPS watch and has the fastest satellite signal reception, at three seconds, no matter what part of the world you are in.
The watches come in 45.4mm wide titanium cases that are 12.44 mm thick, there are three versions available: CC2006-53E (Main model), CC2001-57A, CC2004-08E (limited to 500 pieces only). The first two watches titanium cases with titanium bands and the limited edition watch with a titanium case with a polyurethane band.
The watches feature a pretty simple dial with the standard three hands, 12 hours indices, 40 time zones, and a sub-dial with day and power-reserve indicator. The cases are said to be inspired by satellites, I personally don’t see it, but what do I know about satellites. They do look retro-inspired to me, something like from the 1980’s watches.
The dials are covered with AR coated sapphire crystals and are water resistant to 100 meter. The Citizen Eco-Drive Satellite Wave F100 watches will be available in the summer of 2014 with prices around the $2,000 mark for the non-limited versions. Via: Citizen
